- UK Level 4 is a Higher Education Certificate with 120 College Credits. It is equivalent to studies taken in year one of a traditional university.
- UK Level 5 is a Higher Education Diploma with 240 College Credits. It is equivalent to studies taken in year two of a traditional university. Level 5 HNDs are accepted globally for direct entry to the final year(s) of the bachelor's degree.
- UK Level 6 is a Higher Education Diploma with 360 College Credits. It is equivalent to a bachelor’s degree and same as studies taken in year three of a traditional university. Learners with a level 6 credential will usually progress onto a master’s degree.
- UK Level 7 is a Postgraduate award. It has 180 credits and the learner gains entry to the final stages of the master’s degree.
Are these UK Qualifications globally accepted?
- YES. OTHM and Pearson BTEC (also called Edexcel) are Qualification Bodies in the United Kingdom, and their programs range from foundation to doctoral level courses.
- OTHM and BTEC are regulated by Ofqual – the UK government agency for standards management of qualifications delivered in the United Kingdom.
- The qualifications are taught at AIMU while the certifications are awarded directly by OTHM and Pearson BTEC, UK. These qualifications are also taught at colleges in the UK, and in many other countries.
- Collectively, OTHM and Pearson have over 8 million learners. Their qualifications are offering in over 54 countries worldwide.
- The learners can study and work at home or abroad if they choose.
Are these UK Qualifications widely accepted in the UK?

Are these UK Qualifications accepted for further education in Jamaica?
- YES. We have attached examples. The example is in the form of program evaluation done for two of our learners seeking to top-up their degree in Jamaica. The University Council of Jamaica (UCJ) is the program accreditation authority for Jamaica.
- Programs offered by AIMU DO NOT require accreditation by the UCJ (and the UCJ has said so in the past), because they are externally developed qualifications and are already accredited and regulated by Ofqual in the United Kingdom.
Are these UK Qualifications accepted in Canada and the United States?
- YES. We have attached examples. This is in the form of program evaluation done for two of our learners seeking to top-up their degree in the United States. The program evaluations were conducted by SPARTAN and Worldwide Educational Services (WES) to determine the equivalency of the level 5 and level 7 awards for university admission in the United States.
- SPARTAN and Worldwide Educational Services (WES) are two US and Canadian Evaluation Services used by foreign nationals who are seeking admission and/or employment in the United States and Canada.
- They are used by millions of clients, who are foreign students, and colleges and universities around the world in Canada, US, and UK. They are part of an approved body called NACES which is approved by the US Government (USCIS) for the same purpose.
- WES is also one of seven credential evaluation agencies approved in Canada.
Can I Study And Work Abroad For The Degree Top-Up?
- YES. Students on undergraduate and graduate programs can top-up the bachelors and masters at home or abroad. The length of study for the degree top-up abroad will vary based on the country and its immigration regulations.
- For example, the UK University System is 3 years - so you can top-up the degree in just ONE year. The US and Canada have a four-year university system, and the degree top-up will usually take 2 years.
If you are planning to work while studying abroad, consider the following:
- The UK and Canada allow international students to work part-time during classes, full-time while classes are on break, and in most types of jobs for 2 full years after they graduate.
- The US allows 1-18 months of work experience after graduating from university. International Students seeking to work while in university must receive permission from USCIS and can only apply for work permit after completing nine months of classes in the US (one college year).
