    WHAT ARE THE UK HIGHER EDUCATION qualification LEVELS?
    Higher Level Qualifications: Levels 4-8
    ​
    Higher level qualifications are recognized and respected throughout the UK and internationally, making them a valuable asset in the pursuit of higher-level career opportunities and professional growth. The RQF framework has nine levels from Entry Level through to Level 8, with Level 8 being the highest. The level of a qualification shows how difficult the learning is.

    • ​​​Level 4 Higher National Certificate: first year of the bachelor’s degree
    • Level 5 Diploma: second year of a bachelor’s degree (same as a foundation degree, and associate degree)
    • Level 6 Diploma: final year (same as a degree with honours – for example, Bachelor of Arts (BA) hons, and Bachelor of Science (BSC) hons
    • Level 7 Diploma includes postgraduate certificate, postgraduate diploma, master’s degree, for example Master of Arts (MA), Master of Science (MSc), master’s degree top-up, master’s degree advanced entry. 
    • Level 8 qualifications are: doctorate, for example Doctor of Philosophy (PhD or DPhil), level 8 awards, level 8 certificates, and level 8 diploma.
    Program Levels

    ​​AIMu Graduate School offers OTHM Postgraduate Diplomas at level 7.  Level 7 diplomas on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) are recognized as being at the same level as the master's degrees. However, they are shorter (120 credits), and learners will have to proceed to the dissertation stage (60 credits) to achieve a full master's or MBA. Postgraduate diplomas are taught by AIMu over a period of eight (8) months of continuous study. The final stages for the dissertation and master's degree would usually take a further 8-12 months. London Graduate School and University of Buckingham among many other universities in the UK and abroad offer the final stages of the program, to 'top-up' the master's degree. This program offers the opportunity to study and work abroad while earning the degree.

    Postgraduate Certificates: OTHM level 7 certificate programs are taught distance learning by AIMu's Faculty. These postgraduate certificates offer accelerated learning opportunities in key areas of modern career fields, equipping learners with relevant and valuable skills.

    Postgraduate Diplomas: OTHM Level 7 Diplomas are taught distance learning by AIMu's Faculty. For those seeking focused and intensive study in specific areas, the postgraduate diplomas provide targeted expertise without the requirement of a full dissertation.

    Master's Degrees: After completing the first 120 credits at AIMu, you will advance to the final stages of the master's program to top-up to the masters degree. The masters degree top-up are taught at London Graduate School and awarded by University of Buckingham. The masters ​can also be pursued in the US and Canada. Master's degree programs encompass a wide array of subjects, enabling students to delve deep into their fields of interest. These programs combine theoretical foundations with practical applications, fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

    ​Successfully finishing level 7 qualifications will allow the learners you to advance to level 8 diploma to earn a Doctoral Degree at university in the UK, or abroad. Doctoral degree programs cultivate a culture of research excellence and innovation. Through original research and advanced scholarship, students contribute to the advancement of knowledge in their chosen disciplines. Level 8 programs also enables experienced practitioners to further develop their skills and expertise to become leaders in their respective fields.

    Qualification Structure
    ​The Qualification Structure
    ​    The OTHM Level 7 Diploma consists of 6 mandatory units for a combined total of 120 credits, 1200 hours Total Qualification Time (TQT) and 600 Guided Learning Hours (GLH) for the completed qualification. Some UK Universities will require no further taught classes and the learners will advance directly to the dissertation stage to top-up for the masters degree.  The master's degree top-up is 60 credits, for a combined credit total of 180 credits.

    Where you can study
    Learners will study  distance learning for Level 7 but have the option for on-campus study in their final year online or abroad. 

    Assessment Methods 
    Written Examinations: Utilize traditional written exams to assess theoretical knowledge and critical thinking abilities related to the specialization. These exams can include multiple-choice questions, short-answer questions, essays, and case studies.

    Practical Assessments: For hands-on skills, practical assessments are valuable. These may involve performance evaluations, simulations, and real-world projects to gauge students' application of knowledge in the specialization.

    Presentations and Reports: the students will create presentations or reports on specific topics within the specialization. This will assess their ability to research, analyze information, and effectively communicate their findings.

    Case Studies: Using real or hypothetical case studies related to the specialization. Students can analyze and propose solutions, demonstrating their problem-solving and decision-making skills.

    Portfolios: students are asked to compile portfolios showcasing their work throughout the course. This can include projects, reports, reflections, and evidence of their learning progress in the specialization.

    Group Projects: Assigned group projects that require collaboration and teamwork to address complex challenges in the specialization. Assess both individual contributions and group outcomes.
    How are learners' work evaluated and graded?
    Assessment Criteria and Evidence:

    MULTIPLE CHOICE AND SHORT-FORM TESTS
    The learners must score a minimum of 90% on the online tests.

    LONG-FORM TESTING METHODS
    Students are evaluated based on their performance across various assignments, projects, exams, and practical assessments. All units within this qualification are internally assessed by AIMu and externally verified by OTHM. The qualifications are criterion referenced, based on the achievement of all the specified learning outcomes. To achieve a ‘pass’ for a unit, learners must provide evidence to demonstrate that they have fulfilled all the learning outcomes and meet the standards specified by all assessment criteria. The judgment that the learners have successfully fulfilled the assessment criteria is made by the Assessor.

    PASSING THE UNIT
    To achieve a Pass, students must meet the minimum requirements and demonstrate a satisfactory level of understanding and competency in the course.  You should be able to apply the essential knowledge and skills covered in the program, and demonstrate a high level of proficiency in the subject matter.  You should display a deep understanding and significant ability to apply your knowledge in practical situations, display mastery of the course content, and demonstrate comprehensive understanding, critical thinking, and the ability to apply these advanced concepts effectively.

    EVIDENCE OF ACHIEVEMENT
    For each level of achievement, there are clear criteria that students must meet to qualify. The evidence used to evaluate students' work may include:
    • Written assignments and essays
    • Practical projects and presentations
    • Performance in exams and tests
    • Contributions to group work and discussions
    • Demonstrated understanding of theoretical concepts
    • Application of knowledge in real-world scenarios

    ASSESSMENT AND FEEDBACK:
    Throughout the program, students receive ongoing feedback and opportunities for self-assessment. Tutors and assessors use rubrics and specific assessment guidelines to evaluate students' work objectively. Feedback is provided to you understand your strengths and areas for improvement.
    Program Accreditation Information
    The UK level 4, 5 and 6 awards are taught at AIMu and the awarding organizations are OTHM and BTEC
    • The American Institute of Management and Science University Group (short name, Aim University Group and AIMu) is approved to deliver Ofqual accredited programs from UK Awarding Organizations, BTEC and OTHM.  Ofqual is a department (ministry) of the UK government.

      BTEC and OTHM are administering higher education qualifications delivered to students in over 80 countries worldwide. ​As OTHM and BTEC qualifications are approved and regulated by Ofqual (Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulations), our learners with the level 5 awards can gain direct entry into final year of a three-year UK Bachelor's degree program, and the learners with the level 6 award (same as a bachelor's degree) can gain direct entry into a master's degree program. 

    Progression 
    • After completing the level 7 postgraduate diploma, the learners may progress to any of the following: master’s degree top-up, combined master’s and PhD, doctorate programs in related field. 

    With a globally recognized qualification, you can study and work in the UK and abroad.  As an international student in Canada and the UK, you may work 20 hours during classes, 40 hours when classes break, and up to 3 years after graduating. International students in the US may work for12-18 months after graduating.

    OTHM Level 7 ACCOUNTING AND FINANCE

    OTHM Level 7 Diploma in Accounting and Finance qualification provides learners with an understanding of:

    Overview
    The OTHM Level 7 Diploma Project Management qualification is designed to meet the needs of senior managers responsible for projects and provide a comprehensive understanding of the fundamental topics needed to manage business projects within a complex and ever-changing environment. This qualification will develop a deeper understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of project, programme and portfolio management and facilitate the essential skills and competences necessary to plan, monitor, control and deliver successful projects, programmes and portfolios.

    Progression
    Achieving the OTHM level 7 diploma enables learners to progress into or within employment and/or continue their further study at home or abroad.  The diploma and degree can take as little as 16 months of study. This includes the first eight months by distance learning, and the final year abroad. You may also opt to study entirely by distance learning but attend your graduation ceremony abroad. As this qualification is approved and regulated by Ofqual (Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulation), learners are eligible to progress to master’s top-up programmes with advanced standing at many universities in the UK and overseas.

    ​    This unit aims to introduce learners to the realities of developing and managing a project. It will also introduce learners to the challenges of project management practice in the global business arena.
