    ​AIMu Specializations, Short Diploma Programs, and Short Certificate Courses 

    How to select the courses: 
    Classes are delivered 100% online, distance learning, or using a mixed method of on-campus, online and distance learning. Below are AIMu Specializations. Each specialisation has three (3) courses.

    All Learners should note the following before proceeding:
    • For undergraduate learners on the degree-level, you must choose ONE specialization alongside your travel, tourism and hospitality management core courses or your business core courses.
    • Learners for Short Diplomas, choose ONE specialization of your choice​. Each specialization has minimum of THREE (3) courses.
    • Learners for a Short Certificate, choose a course from the specializations. Your tuition of $390 covers ONE course. However, you can pay for and take one or more courses.​ It is not recommended that you take more than 3-4 courses together.
  • ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
    ​SHORT DIPLOMA PROGRAM
    • Three (3) CSEC or IGCE Subjects,
    • GED Score of 500 and higher,
    • SAT Score of 900 and higher,
    • Or similar high school credentials
    • Mature learners of 25+ years and older, and with 3 or more years of relevant work experience, may be exempted from the above requirements based on work-based credentials. 

    SHORT CERTIFICATE COURSES
    No specific subjects are requirements to take a short certificate program at AimU. 

    UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS
    • Four (4) CSEC or IGCE Subjects incl English Language in grades 1, 2 & 3, or
    • GED Score 150 or higher on each of the test (minimum cumulative grade of 600),
    • SAT Score of 1000 or higher
    • Or similar high school credentials
    • Mature learners of 25+ years and older, and with 3 or more years of relevant work experience, may be exempted from the above requirements based on work-based credentials. 
    Personal essay, and a critical thinking test are also done online. 
  • TUITION AND FEES FOR THE SHORT CERTIFICATE PROGRAM
    ​Duration: 4 Months
    Cost:  $30 Admission Application and $390 PER course
    • Career Certificate Courses are designed to improve your employability in the areas of study. Study one or more course units from any area, and you'll receive the Upskill Career Certificate for individual course units that you take.

    TUITION AND FEES FOR THE SHORT DIPLOMA PROGRAM
    ​Duration: 4 Months
    Cost: $30 Admission Application; and $1,200 (Full); $640 (two-payments); $430 (per course)    
    • Career Diploma Programs are developed to improve your employability and supervisory skills. You'll need to select ONE specialization which will cover three (3) courses. You'll receive an Upskill Career Diploma in the area of study.

    UNDERGRADUATE TUITION
    ​Duration: 16-24 Months
    Tuition: $30 Admission Application; $2,250 (Full); $1,200 (Semester); $840 (Term); or $650 (Bi semester)
    • Undergraduate programs are bachelor's degree-level studies at levels 4, 5 and 6 with 20 courses: 17 core courses and 3 specialization courses. Undergraduate students may participate in the Three-Year Study-And-Work Abroad opportunity on their final year.  develop employability skills. You'll receive the level 6 diploma (same as the bachelor's degree) and complete the master's degree abroad in little as 12 months.
    REFUND TERMS
    ​Note that, if for any reason you will not be able to commence the class, all refund requests must be submitted directly to the AIM University Group. Current students may contact the Student iHelpDesk and prospective students will email enroll@aimuniversitygroup.org for assistance or information.

    A) Fees
      1) The Application Fee is $30; AND the Holding Fee is $250.
      2) You will find program information, and annual tuition & financing information on the related program pages on this website.

    B) Terms Of Refund
    The Refund/Withdrawal Policy specifies that:
      1) The application fee and holding fee are non-refundable and non-transferable.
      2) Tuition paid by the student includes the holding fee of $250.

    C) Conditions for the request approval, amount refunded, and the deadlines for submitting the Refund Request Form
    Deadlines | When you submit the Refund Request Form:
      i) two weeks before the start of the semester and up to the end of week one, 90% of the annual tuition (less the holding fee)
         is refundable.
      ii) In week two of the semester, 50% of the annual tuition (less the holding fee) is refundable.
      iii) At the start of week three of the semester, 0% of the annual tuition is refundable.
  • ADMISSION PROCESS AND START DATES

    • Pay US$30 to apply. Click here for where to make payments and submit the receipts.  
    • Submit the receipt showing the application fee. Upload the receipt here
    • Once we receive the application fee, the Admission Office will email you the Offer Letter or Provisional Letter.
    • To accept the offer of a place, you will make the deposit for your tuition and submit the signed financial agreement.
    • You will use the directions in the Offer Letter to access the financial and enrolment documents.
    • You will sign the financial documents, and upload them along with the tuition receipt and personal documents e.g. copy of birth certificate, and Identification Card. 
    • After submitting all the requirements, you will receive the formal Acceptance Letter.​

    The overall aim of this unit is to develop the knowledge, understanding and skills required in the preparation and interpretation of financial statements for incorporated organizations. Students will become aware of regulatory frameworks, including the International Financial Reporting Standards Foundation (IFRS Foundation), which inform and govern the production of financial statements and reporting of financial performance. Students will explore and critique conceptual frameworks for financial reporting in both national and international contexts.     The aim of this unit is to give students knowledge and understanding of the law with regard to how companies are formed, administered, financed and managed. Students will learn skills in applying the relevant rules, particularly in business situations, as this unit is linked with the general business law unit which students have already completed. Students will gain practical knowledge of the advantages and disadvantages of carrying out business through the medium of a company limited by shares, different types of shares and procedure for the issue of shares. They will also be able to identify the rights of shareholders with a board of a company.     The aim of this unit is to give students knowledge of the law relating to consumer transactions, consumer credit and intellectual property in terms of everyday dealings. They will learn to recognise that a business operates in a diverse legal framework and that consumer transactions are governed by statutes and regulations, creating specific legislation for sale of goods and consumer protection. Students will explore intellectual property as a creation of the mind, to deal with industrial property and copyright.     The aim of this unit is to give students knowledge and understanding of the essential elements of a valid contract and the principles of the tort of negligence. The unit covers the essential elements of an enforceable contract and the situations wherein the law requires the contract to be in a particular form. The unit also covers how the law determines whether negotiating parties reached an agreement and when the parties will be regarded as intending the agreement to be legally binding. Students will identify the key terms and conditions to be found in a business contract and investigate the importance of classification of terms and how they are established. ​

    The role of the entrepreneur is to weigh up opportunities, threats and personal skills, and abilities to translate an opportunity into a business idea. This unit gives students an understanding of where new entrepreneurial ideas come from and gives them the 
    opportunity to investigate and evaluate a new entrepreneurial idea for a small- and medium sized enterprise (SME). 

    Students will explore concepts of innovation, entrepreneurship and developing creativity. They will learn about and use methods and frameworks to help develop and assess new venture ideas, including defining product or service benefits, identifying target customers and understanding the industry and competitors from the perspective of a new entrant. They will also learn about market research and apply primary and secondary research techniques to investigate an entrepreneurial idea. They will then assess whether it is likely to be a commercially viable business or a social enterprise proposition.

    By the end of the unit, students will have acquired creative skills and thinking for innovation, preparing them for jobs and technologies that do not even exist yet in this rapidly changing landscape.

    How do you get from idea to launching a new business venture? Many entrepreneurs take risks on the way, which can have expensive consequences if mistakes are made. This unit will prepare students to launch a business with less risk and pitfalls. The unit gives students a practical understanding of what is required to successfully launch a new venture. It gives students an opportunity to plan the launch of a specific new venture idea. They will learn about and work through the stages of planning to launch the venture. This will include an explanation of the idea and how it will attract customers and have competitive advantage. Students will also learn about the need for resourcefulness when starting a new venture, and about identifying and using personal networks, which can offer a valuable source of knowledge, resources, advice and opportunities. Students will develop a promotional plan to launch a new venture and prepare a budget and a cash flow forecast for the launch and the first 12–18 months of operation for the chosen venture.

It is important to have a basic knowledge of managing a business and an overall understanding of the services offered to customers in order to survive. This unit will give students a practical understanding of the key aspects of running a small business or social enterprise. Students will learn about the activities involved in running a small business, including developing good relationships with customers, planning and allocating operational resources, forecasting and budgeting, interpreting financial statements, being an employer, dealing with legislation and regulation, and how to put a business plan together.     ​Course Description
    The aim of this unit is to develop students’ understanding of the wider external context that influences the employment relationship and priorities in the employee relations system. Students will recognize that good employee relations have implications beyond the employment contract. Aspects such as communication mechanisms and conflict management are important in building and maintaining positive employee experiences, effective relationships and higher levels of performance. On successful completion of the unit, students will have demonstrated a range of cognitive skills, in particular critical thinking, information handling and problem-solving abilities, as well as recognized professional capabilities. These include the ability to make evidence-based judgements on people-management issues generated through insight and evaluation of the employee relations specialist area.
