  WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT qualification LEVELS

  LEVELS OF STUDY AND THEIR EQUIVALENCIES

  • ​​​Level 4 Higher National Certificate: first year of the bachelor’s degree
  • Level 5 Diploma: second year of a bachelor’s degree (same as a foundation degree, and associate degree)
  • Level 6 Diploma: final year (same as a degree with honours – for example, Bachelor of Arts (BA) hons, and Bachelor of Science (BSC) hons
  • Level 7 Diploma includes postgraduate diploma, master’s degree, master’s degree top-up, master’s degree advanced entry. ​
  • ​Level 8 includes doctoral degree programs.

  

  ​Program Description
  

  ​The aim of the International Higher Diploma in Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Management is to provide students with a comprehensive education that prepares them for successful careers in travel, tourism and hospitality management. It equips students with knowledge and skills in areas such as airport and airline operations, customer experience management, passenger psychology, event planning, travel and tour operations, hotel operations management, spa management, food and beverage management, marketing, and tourism sustainability. The program emphasizes practical learning through internships, case studies, and industry projects, fostering real-world experience and professional network. It also focuses on developing critical thinking, problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills. Students are encouraged to embrace sustainability and ethical practices in the industry. Overall, the program aims to produce well-rounded graduates who contribute to the growth, innovation, and sustainability of the travel, tourism and hospitality industry.

  Program Levels
  
  ​Undergraduate schools at AIMu deliver higher education qualifications at levels 4, 5 & 6. These are taught over a total period of 24 months of continuous study. The programs at levels 4, 5, and 6 and are of equivalent value to years 1,2 and 3 (final year) respectively of a three-year bachelor's degree. Each level consists of 120 credits. Successfully finishing level 5 qualifications will allow you to advance to level 6 diploma and the bachelor's degree in a respective field at university in the UK and abroad. Successfully finishing level 6 qualifications will allow you to advance to a master's degree at university in the UK, and abroad.

  LEVEL 4 | Year 1 of a Three-year UK Bachelor's degree
  
  MONTHS 1-8
  The Level 4 Extended Diploma in International Tourism and Hospitality consists of seven (7) mandatory units and two (1) electives, 120 credits, 1120 hours Total Qualification Time (TQT), and 640 Guided Learning Hours (GLH). Level 4 qualifications represent practical knowledge, skills, capabilities and competencies that are assessed in academic terms as being equivalent to Higher National Certificates (HNC) and Year 1 of a three-year UK Bachelor's degree programme.

  LEVEL 5 | Year 2 of a Three-year UK Bachelor's degree
  
  MONTHS 9-16
  The Level 5 Extended Diploma in International Tourism and Hospitality consists of four (4) mandatory units and two (2) electives, 120 credits, 1120 hours Total Qualification Time (TQT), and 640 Guided Learning Hours (GLH). Level 5 qualifications represent practical knowledge, skills, capabilities and competencies that are assessed in academic terms as being equivalent to Foundation Degrees, Higher National Diploma (HND), and Year 2 of a three-year UK Bachelor's degree programme.

  MONTHS 17-24
  The Level 6 Extended Diploma in International Tourism and Hospitality consists of six (6) mandatory units, 120 credits, 1120 hours Total Qualification Time (TQT), and 600 Guided Learning Hours (GLH). Level 6 qualifications represent practical knowledge, skills, capabilities and competencies that are assessed in academic terms as being equivalent to Bachelor's Degrees with Honours, Bachelor's Degrees, Professional Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), Graduate Diplomas, Graduate Certificates and Year 3 (final year) of a three-year UK Bachelor's degree programme.

  recognition, Accreditation and progression

  ​

  ​The UK level 4, 5 and 6 awards are taught at AIMu and the awarding organizations are OTHM and BTEC. 

  • BTEC and OTHM have administered qualifications to students in over 80 countries worldwide. ​As OTHM and BTEC qualifications are approved and regulated by Ofqual (Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulations), learners with the level 5 awarded by these bodies gain direct entry into final year of a three-year UK bachelor's degree program, and learners with the level 6 award (same as a bachelor's degree) gain direct entry into a master's degree program.

  
  Progression 

  • After completing Level 6 or the BA or BSc degree, the learners may progress to any of the following: postgraduate diploma, master’s degree, master’s certificate, a US combined master’s and PhD

  
  With a globally recognized qualification, you can study and work in the UK and abroad.  As an international student in Canada and the UK, you may work 20 hours during classes, 40 hours when classes break, and up to 3 years after graduating. International students in the US can work for12-18 months after graduating.

  ​The undergraduate program in business utilizes a blended method of delivery, combining various modes of learning to provide a comprehensive educational experience over a period of 24 months of fulltime study. However, there is flexibility in its delivery in order to accommodate part-time and distance learning.
  
  The qualification is delivered through mixed methods of face-to-face in Kingston, online, and distance learning using lectures, tutorials, practicum, seminars, simulations, web activities, internship, and more... Learners may also study 100% online or by distance learning.
  
  Learners have the option to study the final year at university at home or abroad.

  ​Tests and assessments are administered through examinations, projects, online activities, oral presentations, class participation, role playing, reflective journals and portfolios, case studies, simulations, group work and team projects, assessments during internships, and more...
  
  To achieve a 'pass' for a course, learners must provide evidence to demonstrate that they have fulfilled all the learning outcomes and meet the standards specified in the assignment criteria. Judgement that the learners have successfully achieved the assessment criteria is made by Internal and External Assessors.

  OTHER FEES | EXTERNAL REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION AND ACCREDITATION FEES

  • You can finance the tuition by selecting a plan which breaks the annual tuition into semester, term, and bi-semester payments.
  • During the college term, you can expect to pay additional fees for practicum, registration, assessment and certification in year one, two and three.  These fees are NOT included in the quoted tuition for the program. Assessment with certification carry an external fee for levels 4, 5 & 6 and made to the UK awarding body. Late entry of GBP50 is charged after the first six weeks of classes and the external fee is unpaid. If you have difficulty in managing the tuition, you can apply for AimU's Pay-Go Student Financing Program with up to forty months to complete the tuition.

  REFUND TERMS​​

  Note that, if for any reason you will not be able to commence the class, all refund requests must be submitted directly to the AIM University Group. Current students may contact the Student iHelpdesk and prospective students will email enroll@aimuniversitygroup.org for assistance or information.
  
  A) Fees
    1) The Application Fee is $30; AND the Holding Fee is $250.
    2) You will find program information, and annual tuition & financing information on the same program pages on this website.
  
  B) Terms Of Refund
  The Refund/Withdrawal Policy specifies that:
    1) The application fee and holding fee are non-refundable and non-transferable.
    2) Tuition paid by the student includes the holding fee.
  
  C) Conditions for the request approval,  amount refunded, and the deadlines for submitting the Refund Request Form
  Deadlines | When you submit the Refund Request Form
    i) two weeks before the start of the semester and up to the end of week one, 90% of the annual tuition (less the holding fee)
       is refundable.
    ii) In week two of the semester, 50% of the annual tuition (less the holding fee) is refundable.
    iii) At the start of week three of the semester, 0% of the annual tuition is refundable.
• ​ADMISSION PROCESS AND START DATES
  
  New courses begin in the months of January, February, May, June, September and October​

  • Students seeking entry must first complete the AimU Application Form here. ​
  • Pay US$30 to apply. Click here for where to make payments and submit the receipts.  
  • Submit the receipt showing the application fee. Upload the receipt here
  • Once we receive the application fee, you will immediately be scheduled for the online placement tests consisting of the Personal Statement, and Online Critical Thinking Test.  The Personal Statement is a written account of who you are, and the topics are selected so the selection committee can learn about you.  The Critical Thinking Test is a multiple-choice test made up of Mathematics and English questions. The pass score is 70%, and you can attempt the test three times.
  • After the selection committee, the Admission Office will email you the Offer Letter or a Provisional Admission Letter.
  • To accept the offer of a place, you will make the first deposit on your tuition. This is $250, called the holding fee.
  • You will use the directions in the Offer Letter to access the financial and enrolment documents.
  • You will sign the financial documents, and upload them along with the holding fee receipt and personal documents e.g. school certificates, copy of birth certificate, and national ID. 
  • After submitting all the requirements, you will receive the formal Acceptance Letter.
  • Check the semester publication for the deadline for the tuition. You can pay the tuition in full or choose a payment plan.
